Town of Manson - 1915
Archival UltraChrome Prints

In 1915 the little village of Manson looked like this. The lake was not raised until 1927 to wipe out the orchards planted in the bay area and the main part of town was still below the road. The street running east through the photo is now Wapato Way and the main thoroughfare in town. The tents in lower center were for the traveling Chatauqua evangelism troupe - a popular event in the early day life of many rural communities. The large brown house in the center above the lake was a hotel and is now the home of Modest Peters
